About the farm

In Usulutan, on top of the Tepaca volcano, you can find the farm Los Pirineos owned by the late Gilberto Baraona and now run by it’s decendants. It’s located on a volcanic mountain rang surrounded by the cities of Berlin, Santiago de Maria and Joy. The cultivation of coffee at the farm was started in 1890 and according to family accounts, the original seeds of the property, and the mother plants were imported from Antigua Guatemala. The coffee is separated into small to medium-sized batches based upon different parts of the farm and coffee varietals. Los Pirineos farm was one of the pioneers in El Salvador to build its own Micro Coffee Mill. The producers still experiment with processing and drying methods. Las Palmas is one of the additional blocks of land added to Los Pirineos by Gilberto. It is located at 1320 masl. The lot we acquired is a singal-varietal Pacamara which was processed as a natural. This more classic natural is full of pulpy fruit and funk, with black olive and boozy characteristics. Gilberto produced some of the best coffees in El Salvador competing and winning multiple times at Cup of Excellence. We are lucky to get this beautiful coffee.
